Non-Surgical Mid-Face Rejuvenation

If you would like to erase a few wrinkles and fine lines and look rejuvenated without having to go under the knife, injectables such as Botulinum toxin and dermal fillers are one of your best options!

Their growing popularity amongst my patients is due to the natural yet long term results that they offer. This month I will talk about the various procedures I offer using these two products.

From mid-face rejuvenation to balancing the whole face, I will try and give you as much information as possible but remember to visit my website and to phone my rooms on 012 993 0566 to ask a question or book an appointment!

As we age, we lose volume in our faces. This usually starts in the cheek area. You may notice that your cheeks are not as full as they were in your twenties. This leads to a follow – on effect. The nasolabial folds (lines going from the outside of your nose down to the corners of your mouth) become more pronounced and then you can go on to develop a jowl at your jaw line.  Filling the cheek area has a positive effect on the lower part of the face.

At my practice, I use Restylane dermal Fillers, one of the safest injectable fillers on the market, to provide problem areas in your mid-face with volume and a smoother overall texture.

My Dermal fillers page will give you more information

When the skin’s elasticity declines with age, the effects of gravity become too obvious. Aging and gravity causes:

    1. The tip of the nose to droop,
    2. The ears to elongate,
    3. The eye area to appear fatigued and hollow
    4. Jowls to form, and
    5. The upper lip to disappear while the lower lip becomes more pronounced.

Much of this can be corrected with well-placed dermal fillers. Most notably is treatment to the cheek area. I can restore volume loss and sculpt the face and cheeks as well as hydrating the skin thanks to Restylane injections in the appropriate areas.

Volumizing for the midface is one of the best ways to rejuvenate this area. Restylane dermal fillers are a remarkable treatment option that brings youth to this area in a natural way.

Even though it is non-surgical, the effect lasts for approximately 8-12 months.

The treatment will replace volume to the cheek area reducing the deep Nasolabial fold wrinkles, tear trough depressions and create youthful symmetry to the face.

Examples of Mid Face rejuvenation:

•Cheek Augmentation

•Nasolabial Lines

•Nose Shaping

Treating the ‘Always Tired’ Look

If undergoing Blepharoplasty (eyelid) surgery seems a little daunting, I have another possible option for you.

Have you ever heard of the tear trough procedure? It is a non-surgical treatment that treats lower eyelid dark circles/dark hollows.  However, it is not suitable for everyone – there are some patients that require surgery.

In a nutshell, what I do during the tear trough procedure is that I perform a series of micro-injections of Restylane (one of the best dermal fillers on the market) using a very fine needle (or cannula) along the line of the hollow.

I then gently massage the treated area to ensure even distribution of the gel. Not much filler is required and the treatment is a very cost effective treatment for anti-ageing and natural rejuvenation.

You will notice a major improvement right after your tear trough rejuvenation procedure. The results last between six and 12 months.

Please remember that some patients, with large fat bags or lots of excess skin in that area will only see an improvement with surgery. In fact in these cases, fillers could make them look worse. That is why it is important to go to a well-trained doctor for treatments like these.

When we are younger, the brow and jaw-line are more prominent and the face appears constantly elevated. But as we age, the dynamics change and gravity taking over, a gradual sagging of our brow and jawline takes place.

Thankfully, with strategically placed Botulinum toxin injections every 4 to 6 months, the sagging that occurs with ageing will be reduced. Once the Botulinum toxin takes affect roughly 4 or 5 days later, the face takes on a relaxed and refreshed look.
